The new apatrment blocks in Roma Mahala in southern Mitrovica. Mahala was destroyed in 1999 when people living there were forced to flee after NATO troops entered Kosovo and Albanians returned. The rebuiding of the Mahala is progressing in phases, with funds from Norway, Ireland, Greece and United Nations Development Programme. Most of the 48 families that this project will resettle are not the Roma who have been living in the IDP camps in the northern Mitrovica.
